WELCOME TO THE SUMMER 2004 TOUR!

I must lead a good life!  LOL  SueC and I have found ourselves (Monday afternoon) outside on a lovely deck, surrounded by trees and flowers, drinking coffee and Bailey’s to the pleasant tenor of a small waterfall.  It’s our day off and we intend to indulge ourselves!

We left the Trop showroom feeling total pleasure at the evening’s combination of perfect seats and an outstanding concert.  It was much too short!  It took a while to get out of the showroom, but we did and made our way to Corky’s for Crispy’s aftershow fan meet.  Pleasant conversation and great BBQ was the order of the evening.  I crawled into bed around 4am, easily an hour after my normal tour bedtime, but SueC was still going strong.  LOL  Saturday morning was spent writing.  The hotel housekeeping staff keeps sliding little notes under our door, but we’re waiting for the one that says For God’s sake, come OUT so we can get to your room.  I don’t think I’ve ever been to a hotel where the staff leaves little thank you notes on your pillow for their small gratuity.  It’s a nice touch!

We’ve figured out a *new* trick at The Trop!  I handed SueC a ten to give to the valet (not finding a fiver handy) and the fellow paused, took back our yellow ticket and handed SueC a blue one, telling her to bypass the usual pay line and come directly out to the valet.  How interesting!  LOL  It was much more convenient for us.  Casinos are full of tricks, most involving money but some requiring only a sweet smile.  We had just enough time for dinner before the show at 8 and made our way back to Corky’s (already knowing the long lines that form at the Trop eateries) for MORE bbq.  I’m afraid Deliverence’s Squeal Like a Pig is going to have to become my motto too, it the rounds of bbq don’t end soon.  We were shown to an outside table against the Boardwalk and waited for our dinner under the blue skies, watching people enjoy the early evening.  It was perfect weather for an outdoor concert – cool and dry - so naturally, an indoor concert was on the schedule.  We stayed as long as we could, then reluctantly made our way to the showroom.

THE FASHION REPORT
JL – NEW Black long-slvd gauze shirt with black on black embroidery on the chest, black jeans with leather pockets, boots
JH – Sherbet western shirt, dark jeans with fades, deck shoes
GE – Red and white short slvd *block* shirt, black slacks
Norda – Lovely dress with fringe
Bernie – Black sleeveless top, black skirt with angled hem, disk necklace

John’s new shirt is exactly like the white one, VERY nice!

THE CONCERT
The Summer 2004 setlist was played in its entirety without an intermission.  We had passed on yet another extremely expensive set of front row center tickets (a decision which we later viewed with regret) and had settled for a nice pair of second row aisle tickets on the Nordaside.  I’m afraid of those speakers and though we were center enough to be past them, it was still pretty loud.  I was bombarded by drums and keyboard and had to struggle to hear the vocals and guitars.  I took a break after TSIYE (where the intermission normally occurs) and stood in back for the ending of ILS.  It was VERY loud near the soundboard and had a great mix.  I noticed that the speakers under the flying set were two large boxes plus the front fill.  It’s a formidable setup.

The four white fabric panels weren’t used at AC; the lights played directly on the back of the stage.

I still had a great view of the stage, which was nice.  It was a big crowd on Saturday night and very enthusiastic, but I’d say the energy level of the performers was down a bit from the Friday night concert.  (Mine was considerably down!  LOL)  Nonetheless, it was still a solid performance.

Fans were down the aisles for H&H, back to their seats for AYSC, came down again for Singer and stayed.  I was up for Singer, but slid through the crowd to sit for Nights.  I sat down and then realized I couldn’t see a thing!  LOL  I spent Nights companionably swaying with DejaBlue, who leaned over and whispered Is he (Justin) still there?  I laughed, searched through the crowd then said, well, I see a *bit* of pink!  Yep!  He’s still up there!

Question came, much too soon and I stood and saw room behind those standing center stage.  A very pleasant person offered to pull me up by her (twice!) , but I was content to stay behind.

It was a pleasure to meet Marie and Matt (we’re not ALL psychos, Matt LOL) and its always a treat to share a concert with the Broggy family – Dad and Mom and their three kids, who they’re bringing up *right*.  I get a kick out of hearing Brian call out support to The Moodies lead singer.  I had thought of taking some time out from writing but Brian told me his little girl had asked him what MaggieMay thought of the Pittsburgh concert.

Well, heck!  I can’t disappoint a young fan!  LOL!!!
