After the end of each of the tours we've traveled, Maggie and I have tried to take a day or two to wind down before heading home and back to the daily grind.  We spent a weekend at Niagara Falls, a weekend on the beach, a couple extra days in Lake Tahoe.

Since Cornwall was the place in England I most wanted to visit and the tour didn't take us there, I suggested we spend a few days of R&R in Southeast England.  In fact, my original plan, since Gabe was coming along for the second half, was to ditch the tour in Plymouth and go on to Cornwall from there, with Maggie and Gabe joining me after Ipswich.

Of course, once I started actually seeing the concerts here in the States, I knew there was no way I could cut any of the shows, so I adjusted my schedule to arrive with the others on Sunday instead of Thursday.

I spent quite a few hours online researching places to stay, places to visit, things to do.  I booked a hotel in Marazion, an ancient market town across Mounts Bay from Penzance, with rooms overlooking St. Michael's Mount.  Except for the braying jackasses (the four-legged variety) at a neighboring residence, it was practically perfect.

Notice Marazion Post Office at the left. Wonder if they have job openings?

While waiting for our tour guide to arrive, Gabe and I explored the beach beyond the hotel.  All of this is under water at high tide.

Looking back now, it's hard to believe I was there!
Climbing down to the beach, then onto these rocks, only gave us a tiny taste of what was in store for our leg muscles later.  ;-)
