ALERT...SETLIST CHANGE!
Saturday night in Atlantic City was another excellent Moodies concert. The venue didn't change from the night before, but the setlist did: The Actor did not appear onstage tonight. Speculation focused on its vocal demands on the feeble and ailing lead singer. I'm ashamed to say that *I* didn't notice its absence, proving both that I live in the moment and am easily satisfied. OK, we're losers! Betsy Kishlansky was more observant than me and mentioned it as we were leaving the venue, saying too that she had "heard" that the casino requested a shorter show. (Thanks, Betsy) The usual choice in casino alterations to the setlist is the removal of TOSOL. As I said above, I wonder if the Actor was removed to lessen the strain on Justin. It was another successful night for Gemini Dream. Perhaps John has resorted to subliminal tapes reciting the lyrics as he sleeps. Whatever it is, it's working! Other than the absence of The Actor, the setlist was performed as usual and without a break. The Fashion Report: GE - Jimi Hendrix shirt, black slacks RT - White long slvd shirt, black slacks, keds JL - Black long slvd shirt (cuffs rolled up), leathers, boots. It was noticed that his top button was unbuttoned. : ) On his shirt, I hasten to add! JH - Black long slvd shirt, black jeans, STUDDED BOOTS An additional fashion note - it was a very good hair night for BOTH Justin and John. SueC noticed JH having a bit of trouble with his right sleeve, as if it was bothering him..he kept reaching out his arm to push it back before he played. I was startled to see Gordon remain at his drumset during the slow section of Question, rather than take his usual place beside Graeme. It took me several seconds to realize "what" was wrong. I always enjoy Gordon hitting Graeme's Zilgens (Graeme's lovely cymbals) during "the crashing of the waves". The waves didn't crash tonight. sigh I immediately wondered if Gordon had been held responsible for last night's glaring error during Question and was told to "sit in the corner" so to speak, or if Justin had beaten him so badly that he couldn't get up from his drumset to join GE. (The prior sentence is meant to be humorous ONLY and not to suggest a violent or vindictive proclivity to the peaceful and benevolent Moody Blues frontman) It will be interesting to see if that fine tradition and intimate percussion moment is reinstated at Providence. The evening ended with Justin warily accepting flowers from the rail, collecting enough fresh posies to start his own little flower stand (if the waiter thing doesn't work out). The curtain fell,an event in and of itself and posing danger to lingering fans, on a lovely evening. The Health Watch (professional diagnosis not included): Justin seemed "better" tonight. His voice seemed a bit weak in Gemini Dream and during the yeahs in IKYOTS, but was otherwise ok, and no cracking or missing lyrics were noted. I wondered if perhaps he had discovered one of my former favorite drugs (now forbidden by Dr Bob) - pseudephedrine (ie Sudafed). Sudafed dries up your nose, and has the delightful and surprising side effect of popping one up a bit; hence the desire to clean house despite being down with a cold. Justin seemed quite peppy tonight, and was observed hopping up and down before the start of Singer - ALWAYS a good sign. There was still a bit of nose pinching, but no shiny upper lip tonight. I had pondered bringing a box of Puffs to considerately offer during those times of need, but had left them behind in my room. Luckily, they were not needed and the shirt cuffs were also not employed. OK, once! LOL We leave Atlantic City tomorrow feeling like winners, with some of us smiling at the wonderful two concerts we enjoyed and SOME of us smiling about the pot of money we won. Heheheh It was great to see and greet so many fans and to get to meet some we have enjoyed online and finally got to meet in person. On to Providence! MaggieMay - a NON-jaded traveling fan. "Diamonded" maybe, but non jaded. HAHA |
