| WOW.
WOW!!!! WOW!!!!!!!! Quite frankly, dear readers,
I don't think I can write a detached report on this concert. It was
the best seat of my Moody life and I fear that has affected my mind.
Euphoria is the only word that I can think of to describe my state.
I'll leave it to others who were there to write a coherent concert review.
I *can* do a Fashion Report. They were wearing clothes.
lol Mikes were set up VERY close to the edge of the stage - say three
to four feet. There were no incidents DURING the concert, but SueC
and I observed an older male fan get up on a chair and get ON the stage
before the concert. He left a box in front of GE's drumset.
Security removed the box and one was stationed to watch the stage.
WHAT are people thinking??? Fashion Report GE - Flag shirt RE - Black on black JL - White on white embroidered shirt, black leathers JH - Black long slvd shirt, black slacks, and those God-awful, ugly policeman shoes Gemini NIGHTMARE!!! OK, what *IS* the problem with Gemini Dream? They just can't seem to make thru! It's one of my favorite concert songs, but now I'm plagued with fear every time it begins. SueC and I are seriously considering making cue cards for our favorite bassist as a public service. The lyrics plastered to the stage at his feet are OBVIOUSLY not helping. Heck, I don't care - just sing the lines you know over and over - I'm watching and listening to Justin rock on that guitar, anyway. It's when they STOP singing that I look over to see what the heck happened. You will be relieved to know, however, that Justin is not in a position to humiliate John over his faulty concert memory as his performance saw problems in both the solos on Singer and Seesaw (per SueC). SueC noticed that JH gave our poor and pitiful JL another withering glare of disapproval after John's Senior Moment in GD. Please note this was before his own personal guitar failures in subsequent songs. SueC noticed that JL did not use those moments to get his revenge back and did not drop his bass and point accusingly and triumphantly at JH when they occurred. Hopefully, he *did* list them for Justin after concert's end. LOL During the Strat solo in SeeSaw, one fan was heard to say: "oh, MAJOR f - up!!! Like Justin already didn't know. : ) Graeme has been freely using the Oxygen here at Tahoe (and at Reno) and was caught "in mask", huffing away, when he realized he needed to "point" at Justin during some bows. He yelled out, I need some oxygen, and I saw/heard Justin say "We ALL need some oxygen!" I can tell you that numerous fans could have used some Oxygen, too. It's THIN up here! Graeme was also getting some air at the end of Nights and realized it was his "time" to run out and exhort the crowd. He held up his finger as if to indicate "just one second". As always, Graeme got the job done. I didn't see what happened, but JL did "something" to Ray, which got him laughing as he was doing the Sailor's Hornpipe in FML. He could barely look out to sea. Ray has the sweetest smile and laugh, and it was a joy to see. In the most touching moment of the evening, the crowd shouted out "Happy Birthday, Graeme" before Nothing Changes. Graeme seemed quite tickled and sweetly replied, Thank you very much! I'm 61 and I'm now officially a "wrinkled rocker". The concert ended with Graeme accepting a lovely bouquet from two adoring fans...me and SueC. Happy Birthday Graeme! May we get to celebrate MANY MORE with our favorite drummer. All in all a great concert, filled with memorable moments. The audience was great, as usual at Tahoe (we're missing our East coast fans this time and our East coast "friends"), and the Band was in splendid spirits, relaxed and "happy to be there". The small errors I mentioned just made the concert what live music is at its best, and their mention should not be construed as criticism. Well...except for Gemini Dream! Let's get it RIGHT, guys! Lord have mercy! MaggieMay |
Sunday, March 31 - Lake Tahoe, NV
Ed: Sure, leave out the review where *I* had the seat 6 inches away from Justin! Hmph! Fine - let's just say I had the same reaction as Maggie. |
Tuesday, April 2 - Denver, CO
Ed: In order to get home to pick up a car for the eastern leg of the tour, we skipped the Denver concert and took advantage of the band's additional two days off this week. Still, we were only home 24 hours before we took off for Atlantic City. Naturally, as Maggie mentions below, Denver was reported to be the BEST concert of the western leg. Brother! |
